Prostrate or climbing annual vine, stems to 6m long. Leaves alternating along the stems, 2-9cm long, 30-80mm wide, rough, hairy, 3-7 lobed, with toothed margins. Male and female flowers on the same plant. Flowers tubular, yellow, with 5 lobes, solitary or in clusters of 2-4 on stalks arising from the bases of the leaves. Fruit green to yellow. Cucumis melo in SA.
